“My first days at Burklyn were with its resident ballet company- Vermont Ballet Theatre. It was life changing. It was my first professional experience. It was first time I had been away from home. It was the first time I was taking class as a professional with professional dancers. It was the first time I had felt this level of joy. Thank you to the people who made my first experiences at Burklyn inspirational and left me wanting more. Since becoming Artistic Director in 2003 I strive to carry on the tradition of inspiring others!” - Joanne Whitehill, Artistic Director of Burklyn Ballet Theatre

David Howard, Alexander Bennett, and Alun Jones were legends who touched many dancers at Burklyn Ballet throughout the years. David Howard often gave scholarships to Burklyn dancers to take his classes in New York City. Mr. Bennett helped to start what is now the Edinburgh Connection, and Alun Jones hired many Burklyn dancers into Louisville Ballet. I am sure the three of them- Alex, David, and Alun are keeping the afterlife lively!

An organizations strength comes from the pieces that make it whole. Every student, teacher, and staff member that has come through our doors is a piece of our history. We are grateful for all, who over the past 44 years have helped to make Burklyn the amazing place that it is today. Over the next few days we will be sharing memories and recognizing some of our history. We invite you to join us and post the things you are grateful for!⠀
Enjoy a look back through the years and get ready to make plans for the future. We are grateful for all our dancers- past, present, and future.
