Burklyn Ballet Theatre

Modeled after the schedule and rigors of a professional ballet company, our summer intensive is for the 12 to 25 year old pre-professional dancer. Every dancer is offered the challenge and opportunity to learn and perform new repertoire each week. Dancers spend Monday through Thursday taking three technique classes per day. Pointe, jazz, modern, character, variations and partnering are taught as extra compulsory classes four times weekly. Afternoon and evening rehearsals follow daily classes. Friday’s schedule consists of two technique classes and a dress rehearsal. Saturdays begin with warm up class followed by final rehearsals and preparations for the evening’s public performance.

Pricing is all inclusive. No additional hidden fees for rehearsals, performances, costumes, etc. apply to any Burklyn experience.

Whenever I come to Burklyn I always feel like I grow not just in my dancing but in myself as a person. I think that has to do with all the supportive and amazing people who come to Burklyn every year, both the new people and those who have been coming for many years. I also like how we get to train and work in rehearsals with so many different people who all have different experiences in the dance world. It is really encouraging to meet so many kind people who have been in the exact same spot as you and have had successful careers in dance.

Burklyn Ballet Summer Intensive was really special to me. I got to work with so many amazing teachers and staff, and I left feeling like a new dancer. My biggest personal goal this summer was to gain confidence, and to really hone in on my strengths and what makes me special. It was so interesting to see how my roles varied each week in style, and it helped me get out of the mindset that I am only able to do one thing.

Working at a ballet school myself, I’m familiar with many summer intensives our students have gone to. While they all have their strengths, BBT has the most intensive class and staging experience I know of. If your dancer loves to be challenged, be in front of an audience and desires to perform for a living, this is a great fit for summer ballet training!

Scholarships

Burklyn Ballet Theatre offers a limited number of scholarships ranging from $100 to $500. Dancers are automatically considered for talent-based scholarships during the audition. No separate application is necessary. Scholarship notifications are sent out throughout the audition tour.
