I love Burklyn because it’s incredibly challenging and gives me a picture of what being in a professional company would be like.
STUDENTS
Many of our dancers say that coming to Burklyn is one of the most amazing experiences of their life. It is our desire to make every dancer’s stay at Burklyn Ballet Theatre a very positive experience. Whether they choose to follow a career in dance or not, we hope dancers will carry fond memories of their summers in Vermont throughout their lives.
Activities
Each Sunday a special trip or event is scheduled for dancers who do not have visiting parents, family or friends. Although the dancers spend most of each day in the studio, they do have some free time. The campus is small and beautiful and the dancers are allowed to enjoy the grounds on their own. We also encourage them to use the college’s computer room and library.
The village of Johnson boasts a small restaurant, grocery store, a bank, a bookstore, a coffee shop and several novelty shops. There are no department or discount stores nearby. Although not in Johnson, several houses of worship can be found nearby, including those of the Catholic, Protestant and LDS faiths. Transportation can usually be arranged.
Staying in Touch
Dancers are encouraged to correspond with the program directors, their counselors, friends and Master Teachers over the winter months. Burklyn sends three newsletters to dancers during the year sharing student and counselor news. Please let us know what’s going on with you so we can share at the good news. Follow us on social media!
